Finding your "Why" in Yoga

Finding your "Why" in Yoga

Finding your “why” in yoga...

What does that even mean?  You might think it’s to become stronger or more flexible.  For stress relief or a break from the day.  These are all good “whys” but your “why” in yoga goes even deeper!

Why do you want to be stronger or more flexible?  Is it to keep up with your kids because you want to be an active parent giving them lots of playful memories?  Why do you need stress relief?  Is your day too busy & you need to cut something out? Many of those activities we “have” to do, we really don’t.  Are you at a job that just isn’t a great fit for you?  Are you looking to have more peace by controlling your anger?  Or maybe looking for a release of a painful past?

Take a moment to contemplate that.  Grab your journal if you need to & write about it.  Get the thoughts out from floating around & down on paper so you can make sense of them.

To "find your why" in yoga and life means to uncover the deeper purpose, meaning, and motivations behind your actions and choices. It involves looking at your core values, desires, and beliefs to understand what truly drives and fulfills you.  What makes you, you.

In a broader sense, finding your why in life involves discovering your purpose and understanding what truly matters to you. It means identifying the values, passions, and goals that bring you joy, fulfillment, and a sense of meaning. Your why in life could revolve around personal growth, making a positive impact on others, pursuing creative endeavors, contributing to a cause, or nurturing meaningful relationships.

Finding your why in yoga and life allows you to live with greater intention, clarity, and authenticity. It provides a guiding compass for your choices, actions, and priorities. When you are in touch with your why, you are more likely to make aligned decisions, overcome challenges, and experience a deeper sense of satisfaction and fulfillment.  It allows you to find your true self – the self you were created to be. The do the things you love!

After lots of sitting with myself & my practice I realized my “why” was to build my confidence, on & off the mat.  By building my confidence it has allowed me to let painful memories go, to find forgiveness, to control my temper & to (hopefully) be a better role model to my girls and those around me.  Wow, who knew it could go so far with such a little question?

What’s your why?  I’d love to hear from you & support you on your journey!

May you always stay true in your intentions, true to your hearts desires & speak loving truth to those around you.  Love ya!
