Why Deep Rest Is More Than Just Sleep

July 09, 20261 min read

Have you ever gotten a full night's sleep and still felt exhausted?

You're not alone.

Many of us think rest simply means getting more sleep, but true restoration goes much deeper. While sleep is essential, our bodies also need moments of intentional stillness throughout the day—moments where our nervous systems can shift out of survival mode and into a state of safety.

Restorative yoga is one of my favorite ways to create those moments.

Unlike more active styles of yoga, restorative yoga invites you to slow down, breathe deeply, and allow your body to be fully supported. There is no pressure to perform or accomplish anything. Instead, you're simply creating space for your body to release tension and for your mind to become a little quieter.

Over time, practices like this can help you feel more grounded, more present, and more connected to yourself.

If you've been feeling overwhelmed, emotionally drained, or like you've been carrying the weight of the world, I invite you to spend a few quiet minutes with me.

This gentle restorative yoga practice was created as a sanctuary—a reminder that rest isn't something you have to earn.

It's part of caring for yourself.

I hope it leaves you feeling a little lighter, a little softer, and a little more at home in yourself.
